For the vast majority of employers the requirement for an employee to be a first aider is to either hold the Emergency First Aid at Work (6 hours) or the First Aid at Work (18 hours). We can also offer First Aid at Work + Forestry (FAW+F).
Upon completing the FAW you will be able to:
- Understanding the roles and responsibilities of a first aider
- Be able to assess an incident
- Identify the signs, symptons and history of a casualty
- Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an unsreponsive and breathing normally casualty
- Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure
- Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
- Manage a casualty with external bleeding
- Manage a casualty who is in shock
- Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
- Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds
- Be able to administer first aid to casualty with injury to bones, muscles and joints
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected head or spinal injury
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected chest injury
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with an eye injury
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected major illness
