All organisation that work with young persons are required to have a first aider trained. Children are not just young adults and it is important to recognise differences in procedures and techniques when applying first aid. We can provide you with training for either the Emergency Paediatric First Aid (6 hours) or the full Paediatric First Aid ( 12 hours). Upon completing the Paediatric First Aid course you will be able to:
- Assess an incident involving an infant and child
- Be able to manage an infant and child who is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive and breathing normally infant and child
- Be able to manage an infant and child who is having a seizure
- Recognise and assist an infant and child who is choking
- Manage an infant and child with external bleeding
- Manage an infant and child who is in shock
- Understand the rolesand responsibility of a first aider
- Be able to adminster first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
- Manage an infant and child who has had an electric shock
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and child with burns and scalds
- Be able to provide first aid to an infant and child with a suspected fracture or dislocation
- Be able to procide first aid to an infant an dchild with a head, neck or back injury
- Be able to administer first aid to an infant and child with sudden poisoning
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and child with a foreign body in eyes, ears and nose
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and child with an eye injury
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and child who has been bitten or stung
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and child who is experiencing the effects of extreme heat or cold
- Know how to provide first aid to an infant and hild with a chronic medical condition
